The Benny’s Run 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run will take place in East Hampton, Connecticut, on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10 AM. Runners, walkers, and volunteers of all ages are welcome.
The race will be a fundraiser to support mental health sponsored by The Benny Fund.
What is The Benny Fund?
We strive to ensure mental illness is spoken about openly at our dinner tables, in our schools, and as a community. The stigma associated with depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, as well as other mental illnesses is not only real, but acts as a barrier to seeking treatment. Mental illness is treatable and early intervention is crucial. Those who are affected should be treated with compassion, understanding, and care.
Our mission is to support our communities through funding and mental health advocacy, while remembering a caring and loving man, Benjamin J. Neiweem. In May 2014, The Benny Fund awarded its first scholarships and plans to continue to focus on scholarships for high school students, mental health advocacy campaigns, as well as funding for mental health education in our schools and communities.
