The 3rd Annual My Sister’s Place 5K presented by Hartford Toyota took place on Sunday, June 12th , on the beautiful campus of the University of Hartford. Over 200 runners and walkers came out to support this great organization and their many good works. My Sister’s Place provides aid to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence.
The day’s activities began with a kid’s fun run. After a brief warm up, the kids all turned in a winning race. The 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk followed. First to cross the finish line was Shane Leighton from West Hartford in 18:36, followed by Justin Perugini from Plantesville in 19:06 and Tom Leonard from North Granby in 19:30.
The first female to cross the finish line was Stacey Clark from Berlin in 22:24. Olivia Natale from South Glastonbury in 23:57 and Ella Szczepanski from Farmington were second and third. Team awards were also presented. A total of twelve teams competed. Team Qualidigm won the Most Spirited Award and Hartford Toyota won the Most generous Award. The M Power Kids team won both the Fastest Team and the Biggest Team.
My Sister’s Place wants to thank the many sponsors who made this event possible, particularly the presenting sponsor, Hartford Toyota. And the University of Hartford who generously made their grounds and resources available for this annual event. Plans are already underway for the 2017 race.
