The fourth running of the Cupid Made Me Do It 2 Mile Urban Challenge went off under clear skies and a relatively balmy 17 degrees. Part of the Romantic Willimantic Chocolate Festival, runners came from six states and throughout Connecticut to compete in this Valentine’s themed race. The course wound it’s way through downtown, crossing the Willimantic River four times past railroad yards and old mills, to the finish line behind Main St.
Results
The overall winner was Ryan Goyen from Manchester, finishing in 12:11, followed by David Drebsky of Plainview, NY and Willimantic Fire Chief, Marc Scrivener in 2nd and 3rd. The first female finisher was Cara Riley from Berlin. She was followed by Karen Houle from Danielson and Lisa Bonanni from Selden, NY. The award for most enthusiastic went to the members of the 169 Society who came out in force. After post-race activities, most runners stayed for the Chocolate Festival.
