On December 5th in Bethlehem CT, the 2nd Annual Santa Made Me Do It Road Race took place on a beautiful early winter morning. This event, held in conjunction with the Bethlehem Christmastown Festival, included a 5K road race, 2 mile walk, and a kid’s fun run. After a small but enthusiastic group of kids completed the fun run, the main race took off at 10:00, running past the assembled festival goers. The runners and walkers traversed the gently rolling course through the surrounding, rural countryside, before returning to the cheering crowds on the Town Green. Everyone crossing the finish line received a commemorative ornament.
The first to cross the finish line was Rob Polansky of Meriden in a time of 18:31, followed by Ryan Goyen of Manchester and Paul Baldini of North Haven. The top three female finishers were Emily Medonis and Donna Poliquin, both from the host town of Bethlehem, and Amy Busko of Bridgeport. A total of 152 runners and walkers participated. As usual, the “Run 169 Towns Society” was well represented.
