Rich BaberRich Baber 

Rich Baber is an accomplished runner with 25 marathons under his belt and a mission to run a marathon in every US state.

Rich founded the Glastonbury River Runners in July 2008, which has since grown to a 501 (c) (3) non-profit running and fitness club with over 200 members. He is actively involved in the club and its annual training programs and races. Rich is also the assistant coach at Windham High School.

He is a certified RRCA race director and Connecticut Interscolastic Athletic Conference coach. He is also First Aid and CPR-certified, including concussion and head injury certification.

He has an undergraduate degree in History from Eastern Connecticut State University and has an MA in the History of American Civilization pending from Brandeis University. He was a collegiate athlete.

After a career in project management and many years of community service (including as an Eagle Scout and serving on many Connecticut boards), Rich is now pursuing his life-long passion of running and fitness through The First Mile.

Beth is a certified yoga instructor and has been running the roads and trails in New England for 20 years. She’s completed 9 marathons and countless triathlons and adventure races. Beth is excited to support runners in her position with First Mile LLC. She enjoys creating a supportive environment for runners to perform at their best.


Monica GuyMonica Guy

Monica is an experienced website designer and content/social media strategist. She has a master’s degree in Interactive Media and can build effective, low-cost, low-maintenance race websites of any type.

Julie Hoagland

Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and currently oversees the North East Domestic Violence Program. Julie is dedicated to advocating for victims of domestic violence and believes people should not have to live in fear. Julie Hoagland is also an avid runner with a strong passion for health and nutrition. She has great personal recipes for Almond milk, Coconut milk and green protein smoothies that she freely shares with race participants. Julie is a dog lover who brings dog treats to all the races in hopes of making a new canine friend or two.


Miguel Olmo

Miguel Olmo is part of our professional team here at First Mile Fitness LLC. He is an avid fan of sports, athletics, and fitness. When he is not on the course he serves as a Mental Health & Addictions Counselor for CHR in his hometown of Willimantic, CT., his clinical approach is influenced by a Person Centered integrated tactic focused around spiritual principles and the mind, body, and soul. “Healthy dieting and exercise is the key to longevity” is Miguel’s mantra and core belief in his clinical methods for serving his clients. You may see him performing various task ranging from assisting with course set up, working registration tables to event photography.
